Observations of The Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC)

IC 1662

IC 1662 appears as a 1' diameter round haze with a very low surface brightness. There was no brightening toward the center of the cluster and no stars were resolved. A star of 15th magnitude is located on the eastern edge of the cluster. There was no response to the UHC filter. IC 1662 was visible with averted vision through 12" scope with averted vision.
