Observations of The Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC)
Lindsay 48
Lindsay 48 is a small fairly bright cluster positioned on the northern edge of the cloud. The center of the cluster appeared to have a slight concentration, while the overall size of the cluster would have been about 15" across. The cluster has a sharp edge and was well defined from the background sky. At higher magnification the cluster has an irregular shape with the eastern edge fanning out. No stars were resolved in the cluster and only a 14.5 magnitude star was positioned close to the cluster being on the western edge. The cluster was visible with some difficulty with the 12" aperture mask.
