Observations of The Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC)

Kron 55

This cluster appears to be 1.5' across and has a low surface brightness. The cluster does not resolve at all. It is located 10'west south west of Kron 61 The cluster is round in appearance and has no central condensation.

Max Gardner

Observed with an 18" f4.5 NGT. Kron 55 appears as a large speckled haze with an irregular oval shape. The cluster looks grainy as if it is nearly resolving with the 12mm nagler. There is a 14th magnitude star just off the southern edge of the cluster. It is almost 2.5' in diameter and has no central condensation.
