Observations of The Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC)

H 88

H 88 is a very bright, compact nebulae similar to IC 1664. I has a slight blue colour at 160x. It appeared to have a diameter of about 10" looking like a small Planetary nebulae. It responded very well to the UHC/OIII filters. The overall diameter of the nebulae increased to 25" as a faint halo became apparent, I then rechecked the object without the filter but this halo was not revealed. The main disk of the nebulae has an even surface brightness while the halo dropped in brightness toward the edge. There were no stars superimposed or scattered near the nebulae. The nebulae is visible in the 90mm finder as a star of about 9th magnitude. This is a very interesting object.
